Selling gemstones - how to do it?
Q. I have a beautiful cushion cut Kunzite, very nice pink in color that has not been heat treated and it's huge, way too big for a ring. I took it to some various jewellers to make sure it was Kunzite and one of them told me it was worth about $700. I would like to sell it but not sure what is the best way to do it. I've looked on Ebay and the prices that are being bid are very low. I've looked at Gemstone dealers and their prices are much higher for cut Kunzite but all seem to be selling, not buying. I've never done this before and wondered if anyone had any websites for dealers that will consider buying gemstones or just any advice on what is the best way to sell it. A. Let's see if I can help... Kunzite is a more collectable gemstone. Depending on the carat weight, that would really determine the true price. Now, the thing is, dealers who are selling...well, don't really need to buy. They are buying parcels of these stones and piecing them out. As per current wholesale, nice Kunzite is sitting around $15.00 to $35.00 Price per carat. Larger, deeper pink color is demanding around $40.00-$55.00 price per carat. Now, I would not recommend selling on Ebay as many overseas wholesalers are selling on there and quite honestly, they are doing it relatively cheap. You probably will not get what you want out of it. A. Certainly get number 3. While the pocket watch is nice, I think that it is too serious a gift for a seventeenth birthday and should be saved for next year. A. 1. flower names: Acacia or Aven or Blodwen or Roselaine -- Acacia. I also love Blodwen though. Aven reminds me too much of Ava / Aiden, which are the two MOST popular names for a boy and girl...it just seems half-breed of the number ones to me. Roselaine is cute, but all I hear is two names... Rose Elaine...but there's also a potential that I'm pronouncing it wrong. 2. color names: Amber or Azure or Tawny or Ivory -- Ivory. I love it. I also love Azure.
